Turn floorwork into a conversation between bodies transforming static ties into dynamic, fluid floorplay.

You will learn or refine a multitude of exercises and play approaches to rope that decentralize the TK (Takatekote) as the ultimate goal. Adaptations are key to an enjoyable rope experience in our view, and we provide those tools through a dedicated weekly curriculum which is possible to experience in a weekend intensive.

Individual tools can be hand picked for refinement & comprehensive workshops built around topics that cater to a particular need.

Key Focus:

Adapting core components of Floorplay to any body type or ability

Using rope as interactive “blocks” that define movement and stillness

Listening and responding to the body to find fixed positions and or reading maximums of
movement while connecting with our partner

Smooth transitions, posture & body manipulation

Finger pointing, flow and tight friction mechanics

Partner communication

Takeaways:

Design ties that feel personalized and organic

Build structures that invite movement or create intentional limits

Deepen the dialogue between rigger and model

Flow between shapes effortlessly, create rope that feels alive

Key Focus:

  • Introduction to load-bearing mechanics with pulleys and uplines (Refinement of uplines)

    1. Finding the rigger’s center of balance and shifting body weight

    2. Using circular patterns, stacking & positioning to manage weight and strain

    3. Observing for sustainable, identifying safe(r) transitions throughout partial suspensions

    4. Lowering and lifting as a controlled art

    5. Supporting the model’s weight with wraps, structures, & rigger body placement (Stress midigation)

    6. Exploring how the rigger’s body weight can create challenges and dynamic play

  • Takeaways:

  • Gain technical literacy for partials and suspension

    1. Learn to work with your partner’s weight safely and effectively

    2. Understand the mechanics of risk, strain, stressors, and adaptation

    3. Build intentional suspension scenes rooted in connection, not just “getting someone off the ground”

Structure Theory

Harness Mechanics & Creative Exploration

Intermediate to Advanced

Sunalta venue class limit : 24 people

Price: $45 plus ticket fees

Unlock the building blocks of rope harnesses and learn to adapt floorplay tools into new configurations. This session focuses on apexes, anchors, frictions, tensions, and positions. How they work, why they work, and how to combine them to create effective, creative structures.

You’ll co-create a figure with the group, exploring how to adjust components to achieve a desired pose.

Key Takeaways:

  • Harness Logic & Mechanics: Understand how structural elements interact.

  • Creative Adaptation: Transform basic floorplay tools into endless configurations.

  • Safety Awareness: Apply frictions and tensions with purpose and confidence.

  • Suspension Readiness: Build speed and clarity in processing harness structures for future partial or full suspensions.

Important Notes:

Partner is recommended, you’ll get the most from class if you can test structures with someone, though solo riggers can still observe and participate.

This class is a stepping stone between floorplay and suspension, giving you the confidence, creativity, and technical clarity to reduce anxiety and build structures that are both functional and expressive.

Intentions

Learn to Read, Act, Listen

(All Levels)

Length: 2 hours

Ludus Praxis venue class limit : 8 pairs

Price: $45 plus ticket fees

Go beyond shapes and knots; create impactful, emotional experiences through intentional rope practices. This class invites you to explore non-verbal communication, scene-building, and consent in action, helping you move from simply “tying” to crafting felt experiences that resonate deeply.

Step Into the Game of Intentions

We use Intentions, a creative, interactive, bilingual game (English/French) that blends acting, guessing, and play to sharpen your emotional awareness in rope. Through acting, gesturing, and subtle body language, sometimes incorporating rope, you’ll practice communicating intentions without words, while others learn to read and respond with sensitivity.
